General Description
- CHAPS (3-((3-cholamidopropyl) dimethylammonio)-1-propanesulfonate) is a zwitterionic non-denaturing detergent
- It is suitable for applications which require protection of native protein conformation
Applications
- CHAPS can be used for the solubilization and purification of membrane proteins
- It is also used in conjunction with nonionic detergents like Triton X-100
- It can be used as a non-denaturing zwitterionic detergent for the study of membrane chemistry
