Applications

Toluene is used as a solvent in various chemical industries. It is used in the production of various petrochemicals like paint, explosives, urethane foam and phenol formaldehyde used for electrical switches. It is used as a thinner in the paint industry, as a fuel additive to increase octane ratings and as a coolant for its good heat transfer capabilities in sodium cold traps used in nuclear reactor system loops.
