It acts as a photosensitizer utilized to generate singlet oxygen in order to make organic peroxides by a Diels-Alder reaction. It is also used in the sulfide analysis. Solubility
Soluble in water, alcohol, acetic acid, glycerol and chloroform. Insoluble in ether.
