4,4′-Dihydroxybiphenyl is used to prepare plastics. It serves as a laboratory reagent and an intermediate in the preparation of polyether liquid crystals. Further, it is used as an antioxidant agent for rubber and latex. In addition to this, it is used in light-colored rubber products, food packaging and medical latex products.
