Applications
Interacts with the immunophilins cyclophilin and FKBP-12.Tacrolimus is used as an immunosuppressive drug that blocks T cell proliferation in vitro. It is also used in the treatment of other T cell-mediated diseases such as eczema, Kimura’s disease and Cushing’s syndrome. Further, it is used as a research tool in chemically induced dimerization Application. In addition, it is used in liver transplantation and to suppress the inflammation in ulcerative cells. In dermatology, it is used as an ointment to treat eczema especially atopic dermatitis.
