It is used in the synthesis of polyethylene glycolated boltorn coatings. It was used to study the inhibition of the enzyme-catalyzed conversion of D-tyrosyl- phenylalanyl-glycine to D-tyrosyl-phenylaline amide by non-peptide carboxylic acids.
